- Insurers who write property or casualty insurance in Canada - Reinsurers who reinsure those risks
Your membership in the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction will indicate to managers and policyholders of your commitment to both to safety and the overall cost of property insurance. All licensed insurers who write property or casualty insurance in Canada, and all licensed reinsurers who reinsure those risks, are eligible for membership in the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR). All others are eligible for Associate Membership.
Our insurer company members pay dues annually according to their company's net written premiums (or assumed premium for reinsurers). Members are assessed $4,000 each year plus $20 per million of direct written premium ($10 per million in assumed premium for reinsurers) in the previous year.
General membership also entitles you to these benefits:
Eligibility to serve on ICLR's Board of Directors
One vote on each matter submitted to a vote of the membership
Eligibility to participate on ICLR committees
Access to ICLR analyses, publications and research papers
Direct access to ICLR staff, library and other resources
Advance notice and reduced fees for admission to all conferences and workshops
